A Life On The Water

Doug grew up fishing and boating on the lakes of Wisconsin and Illinois, leading to a lifelong passion for the water. Today, he’s still an avid fisherman who understands how valuable time on the water is – and he brings that same respect to every boat he services. Doug knows customers count on reliable work to make the most of their time on the water.

Meet Banyan

PR Director

Anchor Marine’s shop dog, Banyan, is a certified 100% Good Boy and an important part of the team.
When he’s not greeting customers or protecting the storage lot from squirrels, he’s usually busy napping according to his dog agenda.

He turned 14 years old this February ’26, and has decided to scale back his work life and semi-retire. He’s become more tolerant of trespassing squirrels and rabbits.

His customer service skills (tail wags and friendly greetings) are still second to none. Feel free to stop by for some dog therapy — and we’ll have a lint roller ready for you!

32 Years of Marine Service Experience

With 32 years of marine service experience, Doug Dominick has worked on generations of outboards ranging from classic Johnson and Evinrude models to today’s Mercury and Yamaha EFI 4 stroke engines. Factory-trained on OMC products throughout the 1990s and currently factory-certified by Mercury and Yamaha, Doug personally performs every repair from diagnosis to completion. Banyan just supervises.

How long have you been working on boats?

Doug Dominick has worked in the marine industry since 1994, providing 32 years of hands-on experience diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining boats and outboards. He started at a boat dealership while attending South Central Technical College 1993-95.

Doug has extensive experience with Mercury, Yamaha, Johnson, Evinrude, OMC, Honda, and Suzuki outboards. His background includes factory certification training on Johnson and Evinrude products throughout the 1990s and current Mercury and Yamaha factory certifications.

Anchor Marine specializes in outboards manufactured in 1990 or newer. Parts availability, shop labor rates, and decades of age-related wear and deterioration can often make older engines impractical to repair. However, select vintage outboards may be accepted as restoration projects, where preserving or restoring the engine is the primary goal rather than minimizing repair costs.

The cost depends on the condition of the boat and the repairs required. Anchor Marine charges for inspection and diagnostic time just as it charges for repair time, because identifying the problem often requires testing, disassembly, research, and professional evaluation. Labor is billed at $160 per hour with a $100 minimum charge. You will receive an estimate after the diagnosis labor, where you can choose to continue the repairs or halt repairs.

Some repair facilities rely on seasonal employees. At Anchor Marine, the owner personally performs every service and repair, providing consistency, accountability, and 32 years of marine industry experience.
