Outboard Repair

Outboard won't start? Running rough, losing power, stalling, flooding, or hard to start? Boat repair for EFI and carbureted Mercury, Yamaha, Suzuki, Honda, Johnson, and Evinrude outboards. Problems are identified through proper testing—not guesswork—to pinpoint fuel, ignition, sensor, or mechanical faults.

Factory Scheduled Maintenance

Factory scheduled maintenance for Mercury, Yamaha, Suzuki, Honda, Johnson, and Evinrude outboards. 20-hour, 100-hour, 300-hour, and annual service intervals including oil changes, gear lube replacement, fuel filters, spark plugs, water pumps, lubrication, inspections, and manufacturer-recommended maintenance.

Water Pump Repairs

Water pumps don't last forever. Most outboard impellers should be replaced every 3 years or 300 hours because rubber components deteriorate with age and use. Preventative maintenance can help save your weekend by reducing the risk of overheating and unexpected breakdowns.

Winterization

Winterization is one of the most important steps you can take to protect your outboard. Services may include crankcase oil and filter changes, lower unit service, lubrication, engine fogging, fuel system protection, and rodent deterrent measures to help ensure reliable spring start-up.

Shrink Wrap

Professional shrink wrapping for boats, pontoons, construction equipment, and open freight. Shrink wrap provides a durable protective barrier against snow, rain, road debris, dirt, and long-term outdoor storage conditions.

Storage

Not all boat storage is the same. Anchor Marine offers secure outdoor storage in a fenced and locked facility with restricted access and insurance coverage under care, custody, and control while your boat is in storage.

Lower Unit Repair & Gearcase Service

Water intrusion, impact damage, and shifting problems can lead to costly gearcase repairs. Services include pressure and vacuum testing, resealing, gear replacement, clutch replacement, gear shimming, and insurance repairs resulting from impacts with submerged objects.

Fish Finder Installation

Fish finders have evolved into sophisticated marine electronics systems. Professional installation of Humminbird, Garmin, and Lowrance units helps protect your investment while ensuring accurate sonar readings, reliable operation, and peak performance on the water.

Trolling Motor Installation

Modern trolling motors from Minn Kota, Garmin Force, Lowrance Ghost, and MotorGuide can cost thousands of dollars and are only as good as their installation. Proper mounting, wiring, battery integration, and system setup help ensure reliable operation and peak performance on the water.

Starting Sytems

Professional diagnosis of outboards that won't crank, crank slowly, click when the key is turned, or just spin but won't start. Starting system repairs include batteries, cables, solenoids, starters, ignition switches, and related electrical components.

Charging Systems

Dead batteries, low charging voltage, warning horns, and electrical system problems can be caused by failed stators, rectifiers, regulators, wiring, or battery connections. Proper testing is used to identify charging system faults and restore reliable battery charging.

Prop Rebuilding

Damaged propellers don't always need replacement. Professional propeller rebuilding restores bent, chipped, and damaged aluminum or stainless-steel props to factory specifications, often for about half the cost of a new prop. If repair isn't practical, Anchor Marine offers new aftermarket and OEM replacement propellers.

Trailer Maintenance & Repairs

Trailer maintenance and repair services include bunk replacement, wheel bearings, tire replacement, lighting repairs, wiring repairs, and general trailer inspections.

Skeg Welding

A broken skeg doesn't always mean a new lower unit. Professional skeg welding restores damaged aluminum gearcases, often saving hundreds or even thousands of dollars compared to lower unit replacement. And we make it look like it never happened.

Transom Repairs

A damaged transom doesn't always mean the end of your boat. Anchor Marine performs structural transom repairs and replacements on Lund, Crestliner, Alumacraft, and other boats affected by water damage, rot, and structural deterioration, restoring strength, safety, and long-term reliability.

Boat Wiring & Accessory Installation

Installation and repair of marine electrical systems including radios, lights, horns, bilge pumps, aerator pumps, battery switches, wiring, charging accessories, and other onboard equipment. Proper marine-grade wiring and components help improve reliability, safety, and long-term performance.

Steering Systems

Safe boat operation starts with reliable steering. Anchor Marine services hydraulic and cable steering systems, correcting stiffness, corrosion, leaks, excessive play, and age-related wear before they become safety concerns on the water. Many steering cables become difficult or impossible to turn due to corrosion and lack of use.

Pontoon Hauling

Pontoon hauling services are available for local and regional moves. Avoid the expense of specialized equipment and the challenges of transporting oversized loads yourself. Professional transport helps move your pontoon safely between lakes, storage locations, boat landings, and repair facilities.

Floor Replacements

Boat and pontoon floor replacement services including marine carpet and woven vinyl flooring. Repair damaged or deteriorated decks while improving appearance, comfort, safety, and long-term resistance to wear and weather.

Pontoon Restoration

Pontoon restoration services including flooring replacement, marine furniture installation, exterior panel refinishing, and cosmetic upgrades. Restore the appearance, comfort, and value of your pontoon without the cost of purchasing a new boat.

Boat Restoration

Professional restoration of Lund, Crestliner, Alumacraft, and other fishing boats. Services include flooring replacement, transom repairs, paint refinishing, hardware upgrades, and custom improvements that can make an older boat look and perform like new again.

My outboard is running rough. How much for a tune-up?

Is your outboard is running rough, won’t idle, bogs down or is flooding out? Do you need a tune up? Probably not. Modern outboards rarely go “out of adjustment” on their own. You need your outboard repaired. Running problems are typically caused by fuel contamination, ignition failures, sensor faults, air leaks, injector problems, low compression, or other mechanical and electrical issues. The first step is proper diagnosis. Identifying the root cause of the problem prevents unnecessary parts replacement and helps ensure the repair is done correctly the first time. Anchor Marine specializes in diagnosing running problems on Mercury, Yamaha, Honda, Suzuki, Johnson, and Evinrude outboards 1990 and newer.

The cost depends on the condition of the boat and the repairs required. Anchor Marine charges for inspection and diagnostic time just as it charges for repair time, because identifying the problem often requires testing, disassembly, research, and professional evaluation. Labor is billed at $160 per hour with a $100 minimum charge. You will receive an estimate after the diagnosis labor, where you can choose to continue the repairs or halt repairs.

Yes. All boat repair, outboard service, winterization, storage, and diagnostic work at Anchor Marine is scheduled by appointment. Calling ahead ensures space is available and helps keep repairs moving efficiently. Please contact us before dropping off your boat, outboard, or trailer.

Anchor Marine services and repairs most major outboard brands, including Mercury, Yamaha, Johnson, Evinrude, Suzuki, Honda, and Tohatsu. Service is limited to outboards manufactured in 1990 or newer. If you have questions about a specific engine, please contact us with the make, horsepower, and serial number.

Every repair at Anchor Marine is performed by owner Doug Dominick. Doug has extensive experience with Mercury, Yamaha, Johnson, Evinrude, OMC, Honda, and Suzuki outboards. His background includes factory certification training on Johnson and Evinrude products throughout the 1990s and current Mercury and Yamaha factory certifications.

Yes. Anchor Marine provides a 1-year warranty on repair labor and on parts purchased from and installed by Anchor Marine.

Yes. Whether your boat is here for a routine service or a major repair, it is stored in a fenced and locked facility with limited access. Anchor Marine also carries care, custody, and control insurance to help protect customer boats while they are on the property.

Anchor Marine specializes in outboards from 1990 and newer. As a general rule, we do not accept repairs on outboards older than 1990, ETEC models, or Ficht fuel injection systems.

Also, we no longer perform routine repairs on sterndrive and inboard-powered boats.

Exceptions may be made on a case-by-case basis. For example, skeg welding, aluminum repairs, lower unit repairs, or other specialty work may still be accepted depending on the scope of the job and parts availability.

If you’re unsure whether your boat or engine qualifies for service, contact Anchor Marine with the make, model, and serial number.
