Customer Reviews | Anchor Marine Menomonie WI
EXCELLENT Based on 121 reviews Posted on Google Dave VLTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We were traveling from Madison WI to Devils Lake ND for our annual spring walleye fishing trip, when the right leaf spring suddenly snapped on our boat trailer, and the trailer frame and fender came down on the right wheel and locked it up, destroying the fender and damaging the tire. Stranded on the side of the freeway, we desperately started searching on our cell phones for help in the area. Fortunately we chose to contact Anchor Marine owner Doug Dominick. He couldn’t have been more accommodating. He suggested a towing company that could flatbed our boat / trailer to his shop, and he assured us that he would remain after his normal closing time of 6 PM if necessary until we could get there. He looked over the damage and assured us that he would do his best to locate the needed parts and repair our 27 year-old boat trailer. We decided to continue our trip without the boat, and fish from shore. Remarkably, he was able to locate and obtain the needed parts, including matching heavier duty leaf springs, a tire to match the uncommon radial tire on the left side, and a replacement fender! He had all the repairs completed before we came through on our return trip, so we were able to take the boat back home with us, and the cost of the parts and repairs was very fair, and less than we expected. Considering that it was a holiday week (Memorial Day), we were pleasantly surprised that he was able to complete the work before we returned. We appreciate that he put in time after business hours researching and locating the needed parts. We highly recommend Anchor Marine, and would not hesitate to use Doug’s services again!Posted on Google Gene SchellerTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Doug is a professional that knows his business and is all about customer service. As a first time pontoon owner, he very patiently walked me through some trouble shooting steps to get me up and running this spring. He came highly recommended by our new lake neighbor. Doug and Anchor Marine have a new customer and I recommend to anyone. THANK YOU DOUG! 👍Posted on Google Charles HaumersenTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Doug was excellent to work with from start to finish. He quickly diagnosed the issue with my motor and provided a fair, honest estimate. The turnaround time was incredibly fast, and I had my boat back much sooner than expected. It’s hard to find service this efficient and reliable these days. I’ll definitely be bringing any future repairs or maintenance to Anchor Marine.Posted on Google McCulloch ChiropracticTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Awesome experience, highly recommend!Posted on Google Leigh BryanTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Doug did an amazing job installing my lowrance elite and lowrance active target. The wiring and installation made it look like it came from the factory that way. Great guy and very professional been winterizing my boat for years. I wouldn’t take my boat anywhere but here.Posted on Google JEFFREY FRAWLEYTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Great Service! Doug is the man to call if you have anything wrong with your boat! I have wasted more hours than I can count trying to trouble shoot issues myself with no luck. Dropped it off at Anchor Marine and was back on the water in no time for less money than the time I wasted trying to fix it myself was worth. Long story short when something breaks on the water bring it to the guy that knows how to fix it...Posted on Google Christian YangTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. My outboard is running rough. How much for a tune-up?
Is your outboard is running rough, won’t idle, bogs down or is flooding out? Do you need a tune up? Probably not. Modern outboards rarely go “out of adjustment” on their own. You need your outboard repaired. Running problems are typically caused by fuel contamination, ignition failures, sensor faults, air leaks, injector problems, low compression, or other mechanical and electrical issues. The first step is proper diagnosis. Identifying the root cause of the problem prevents unnecessary parts replacement and helps ensure the repair is done correctly the first time. Anchor Marine specializes in diagnosing running problems on Mercury, Yamaha, Honda, Suzuki, Johnson, and Evinrude outboards 1990 and newer.
How much is this going to cost?
The cost depends on the condition of the boat and the repairs required. Anchor Marine charges for inspection and diagnostic time just as it charges for repair time, because identifying the problem often requires testing, disassembly, research, and professional evaluation. Labor is billed at $160 per hour with a $100 minimum charge. You will receive an estimate after the diagnosis labor, where you can choose to continue the repairs or halt repairs.
Do I need an appointment?
Yes. All boat repair, outboard service, winterization, storage, and diagnostic work at Anchor Marine is scheduled by appointment. Calling ahead ensures space is available and helps keep repairs moving efficiently. Please contact us before dropping off your boat, outboard, or trailer.
Which outboard motors do you repair?
Anchor Marine services and repairs most major outboard brands, including Mercury, Yamaha, Johnson, Evinrude, Suzuki, Honda, and Tohatsu. Service is limited to outboards manufactured in 1990 or newer. If you have questions about a specific engine, please contact us with the make, horsepower, and serial number.
Which outboard motor do you NOT work on?
Who will be working on my boat?
Every repair at Anchor Marine is performed by owner Doug Dominick. Doug has extensive experience with Mercury, Yamaha, Johnson, Evinrude, OMC, Honda, and Suzuki outboards. His background includes factory certification training on Johnson and Evinrude products throughout the 1990s and current Mercury and Yamaha factory certifications.
Do you warranty your work?
Yes. Anchor Marine provides a 1-year warranty on repair labor and on parts purchased from and installed by Anchor Marine.
Is my boat secured while it's in for service?
Yes. Whether your boat is here for a routine service or a major repair, it is stored in a fenced and locked facility with limited access. Anchor Marine also carries care, custody, and control insurance to help protect customer boats while they are on the property.
Anchor Marine specializes in outboards from 1990 and newer. As a general rule, we do not accept repairs on outboards older than 1990, ETEC models, or Ficht fuel injection systems.
Also, we no longer perform routine repairs on sterndrive and inboard-powered boats.
Exceptions may be made on a case-by-case basis. For example, skeg welding, aluminum repairs, lower unit repairs, or other specialty work may still be accepted depending on the scope of the job and parts availability.
If you’re unsure whether your boat or engine qualifies for service, contact Anchor Marine with the make, model, and serial number.
