Plan on at least a 2-week backlog during the summer season. Make your appointments for winterization 30 days in advance. The last three weeks of October are already full, reserved for our most loyal customers.
The owner, Doug Dominick, has a 2-year Associates Degree in Marine Repair (Outboard Specialist) from Minnesota Riverland Technical College. Doug has also attended various factory training schools, including OMC Johnson, Evinrude, Mercury, and Mercruiser. Doug has kept up to date with today’s technology with continuing education classes held by AMTECH in various locations in Florida. And Doug has a certification from CDI Electronics in Huntsville, Alabama. The shop dog Banyan is certified a 100% good boy and does what he can.
Your boat will be secured within a 6-foot-tall fence that’s topped with barbed wire. We also have a $2 million aggregate commercial insurance policy that covers customers’ boats while in our care, custody, and control. This coverage includes when we are towing boats on the road as well.
Tune-up is a very misleading term. There are no flat repairs for modern outboards. If it’s running poorly or something is broken, you need it diagnosed and estimated. Anchor Marine charges a $95 diagnosis and estimate fee to investigate the problems with your motor. From there, we can decide if the repairs are within your budget and feasible for the value of your boat.

Anchor Marine has sold over 20 used outboards so far in 2024. We sell, on average, 5–10 a season. All used outboard sales come with a top-to-bottom warranty ranging from 30 days to 1 year (depending on the motor). We are not a dealer for any new motors.
Occasionally, we will sell a good consignment boat if it was a past Anchor Marine customer. The boats we list will sell in under 5 days, so visit our Facebook page for any current offerings. Any boat we sell comes with a limited warranty on the outboard.

No, we do not work on ETECs or FICHTs. We work on outboards from 1990 and newer, including Mercury, Yamaha, Honda, Johnson, Evinrude, Force, Mariner, Suzuki, Nissan, and Toyota.
Engine machining is a very specialized process with a very specific set of skills required. Anchor Marine rebuilds between 5 and 10 outboards every year. For machine work such as cylinder boring, head surfacing, and valve train rebuilding, we use the Side Street Engine Machine in Baldwin, WI.
No, we do not install docks or lifts. We recommend Mark Gunderson at Inz N Outz dock and lift services.
Anchor Marine offers pontoon hauling for Tainter and Menomin. Your boat is insured while on the road or at our shop while it’s in our custody and control. We do not rent out our pontoon trailers.
No, Doug stopped working on inboards in 2014 due to a back injury sustained in 2000 from a car accident. Although we will still do skeg welding on the sterndrive.
Yes, we can install your parts. The labor rate changes from $120 per hour to $160 per hour. And there is no warranty on the labor or the parts.
Yes, we have a cleaning service we can provide, but at our location, prices vary based on needs. We can also clean the lake algae off your pontoon logs.
