Anchor Marine

Have a boat repair-related question? Anchor Marine has the answer. Check out these FAQs and give us a call today for more information!

  • Do you repair inboard motors, stern drives, and jet skis?

We do not work on these items, as we specialize in outboard motors.

  • Do you repair fish finders?

We do not repair fish finders. We recommend sending them back to the manufacturer.

  • Do you work on gelcoat and fiberglass?

We do not work on these, as we are an outboard motor specialist. We suggest going to a fiberglass specialist for these types of situations and recommend 5 Star Auto Body.

  • What are the years of engines that you work on?

We work on engines from the 1990s and newer.

  • How long can I expect to wait for an appointment for winterization?

Please expect up to a 30-day wait when scheduling an appointment for winterization.

  • Do you sell trailer tires?

While we do sell trailer tires, we do not install and mount them. We recommend Pritchard Auto for the job.

  • How soon can you look at my boat?

Plan on at least a 2-week backlog during the summer season. Make your appointments for winterization 30 days in advance. The last three weeks of October are already full, reserved for our most loyal customers.

  • What are your qualifications?

The owner, Doug Dominick, has a 2-year Associates Degree in Marine Repair (Outboard Specialist) from Minnesota Riverland Technical College. Doug has also attended various factory training schools, including OMC Johnson, Evinrude, Mercury, and Mercruiser. Doug has kept up to date with today’s technology with continuing education classes held by AMTECH in various locations in Florida. And Doug has a certification from CDI Electronics in Huntsville, Alabama. The shop dog Banyan is certified a 100% good boy and does what he can.

  • How safe is my boat while it’s there for service? Do you have insurance?

Your boat will be secured within a 6-foot-tall fence that’s topped with barbed wire. We also have a $2 million aggregate commercial insurance policy that covers customers’ boats while in our care, custody, and control. This coverage includes when we are towing boats on the road as well.

  • How much is a tune-up?

Tune-up is a very misleading term. There are no flat repairs for modern outboards. If it’s running poorly or something is broken, you need it diagnosed and estimated. Anchor Marine charges a $95 diagnosis and estimate fee to investigate the problems with your motor. From there, we can decide if the repairs are within your budget and feasible for the value of your boat.

  • Do you guys sell parts?

We sell parts over the counter. We do not do any special ordering of parts over the phone.

  • Do you guys clean boats and detail them?

Yes, we have a cleaning service we can provide, but at our location, prices vary based on needs. We can also clean the lake algae off your pontoon logs.
